nutrition programs 

  • Commodity Supplemental Food Program: The Commodity Supplemental Food Program offers free, nutritious foods to low-income seniors age 60 and older. The monthly food package, worth about $35, is available at no cost to eligible individuals.

  • Emergency Food Assistance: The Emergency Food Assistance Program is a federal program that provides food commodities to distribution sites. Food pantries and prepared meal sites receive commodities and they are distributed with other foods.

 

  • Elderly Nutrition: Call your county or tribal aging office for the locations in your community where you can join other seniors for a nutritious meal served in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. 

  • FoodShare Wisconsin: FoodShare is a program that helps eligible low-income Wisconsin residents buy the food they need for good health.

  • Women, Infants, and Children (WIC): The purpose of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is to promote and maintain the health and well-being of nutritionally at-risk pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants, and children.

      • School District of Waukesha (serving at Banting, Bethesda, Hadfield, Heyer, Hawthorne, Lowell and Whittier) is offering lunch for pick-up. At that same time, families can pick up breakfast for the next day. The school district is communicating through Posting on our district and school websites, e-mails, school messenger (automated phone and e-mail), district FB feed, updating food pantry with info, reaching out to local media.

      • West Bend Parks and Recreation West Bend Parks and Recreation is offering provide 1 reimbursable lunch, and 1 reimbursable breakfast for the following day.A drive-thru scenario will be utilized.  They are communicating through partnership with WBSD via social media as well as email to all families within the district explaining the program and how to access meals.
