The Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) employMEnt NOW! program is designed to assist young adults with planning, training and job placement needs.

14 Program Elements Include

  1. Tutoring, study skills training, instruction, and evidence-based​

    dropout prevention and recovery strategies;

  2. Alternative secondary school services or high school dropout

    recovery services;

  3. Paid and unpaid work experience;

  4. Occupational skills training;

  5. Education offered concurrently with and in the same context as

    workforce preparation and training;

  6. Leadership development opportunities;

  7. Supportive services;

  8. Adult mentoring;

  9. Comprehensive guidance and counseling;

  10. Financial literacy education;

  11. Entrepreneurial skills training;

  12. Career Awareness, Career Exploration, and Career Counseling;

  13. Postsecondary preparation and transition activities; and

  14. Follow-up services.

  • For those aged 14 to 24 with education and employment barriers

  • Out-of-school or out of work

  • Willingness to improve your career and your FUTURE!​

Work-Based Learning Program

Our work-based learning program gives youth the opportunity to get an overview of a certain field or company, develop knowledge and skills, gain insight into a certain role and a valuable set of contacts for the future.

​

Work-based learning includes work experiences for out-of-school youth and internships for in-school youth that are available year round.

Work Experience Eligibility

  • Out-of-school youth between the ages of 16 and 24

  • Meets WIOA employMEnt NOW! program requirements

  • Must be available to work between 10 to 40 hours per week, up to a maximum of 240 hours

  • Earn a prevailing wage rate for that position or at a minimum rate of $15.00 per hour, whichever wage is higher

Internship Eligibility

  • In-school youth between the ages of 14 and 21

  • Meets WIOA employMEnt NOW! program requirements

  • Must be available to work between 10 to 40 hours per week, up to a maximum of 240 hours

  • Earn a prevailing wage rate for that position or at a minimum rate of $15.00 per hour, whichever wage is higher

Our Business Solutions Team will actively consult with businesses throughout Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington counties to secure paid work experiences opportunities that match your interests and abilities!

 

Midway through the work experience, a worksite monitoring is conducted by our Business Solutions Team to ensure success for all involved!
