Our Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) program may be just what you need to help train your existing employees, to increase productivity and boost your company's competitiveness.

Under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), the IWT program provides both workers and employers with the opportunity to build and maintain a quality workforce and increase competitiveness. It is a type of work-based training and upskilling designed to ensure that employees of a company can acquire the skills necessary to retain employment and advance within the company, or to acquire the skills necessary to avert a layoff.

Grant PROGRAM Announcements (GPA)

Applications for the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Incumbent Worker Training grant program are now being accepted. Organizations interested in this grant opportunity may apply to offer training programs that will be delivered to their workforce between the following periods:

 

  • Fall 2021: Training programs may range from 1 day to a maximum of 16 weeks and be held between September 6, 2021 and December 31, 2021.

  • Spring 2022: Training programs may range from 1 day to a maximum of 16 weeks and be held between March 7, 2022 and June 17, 2022.

 

Additionally, Incumbent Worker Training grants are:

  • Open to: All industry sectors and companies of any size.

  • Grant Amount: The maximum award amount may not exceed $10,000 per business per program year.

  • Questions Due: Due via email by 12:00 pm on Friday, June 25, 2021.

  • Application Deadline:  Due via email by 12:00 p.m. CST on Friday, July 30, 2021.

These are firm dates and training programs may not start earlier or end later to be considered for funding. Full details are available below.
