Upskilling Workers in CDL

Through the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act and Worker Advancement Initiative, we are excited to share that we played a role in the Wisconsin Regional Truck Driving Academy success in graduating their first 12 students and following classes!

The Wisconsin Regional Truck Driving Academy is an eight-week program taught by two Moraine Park instructors. Cohorts run every eight weeks with 12 to 15 students in each session. After completion, the students are guaranteed full-time employment with Kreilkamp Trucking.

"In response to the supply chain disruptions and worker need in Southeastern Wisconsin, we jumped at the opportunity to be at the table with MPTC and Kreilkamp. We have had dislocated workers make a career change for this unique training program that covers food, lodging, and transportation during the training program while we provide ongoing case management and other supportive services. Knowing that individuals are guaranteed full-time employment at Kreilkamp is a win-win for all," said Cindy Simons, president at Forward Careers.

A special shout out and congratulations to Jacqueline, Bradley, Shane, Umonica and Charles for their participation in the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act and to David and Zach for their participation in the Workforce Advancement Initiative.

To date, 6 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act participants, 4 Workforce Advancement Initiative participants, and 4 WIOA/WAI co-enrolled participants have participated in the Wisconsin Regional Truck Driving Academy. The next cohort will start their training at the end of August. We wish all of the participants the best of luck in their new careers!
